About One to One

In 1993, Telluride and Norwood locals and former Board Members, John Mansfield and Allan Gerstle, identified a need for a mentoring program in San Miguel County.  John was the Juvenile Diversion Officer and Allan the Director of Social Services for San Miguel and Ouray Counties at this time.

Allan and John approached Delta Montrose Partners, who in 1994 extended their service area to include Ouray and San Miguel Counties, and changed their name to West Four County Partners, serving Delta, Montrose, Ouray, and San Miguel Counties in southwest Colorado.

In 1998, San Miguel County came under the umbrella of Big Brothers/Big Sisters for a short time before creating an independent program established as One to One San Miguel Mentoring Program in 1999.  Starting with 35 children, One to One Mentoring has since served hundreds of youth in San Miguel County through a variety of programs tailored to address a diverse array of needs.
